Fall Honey Making

For those of you in the north, how much honey is made by the bees in the fall?

I'm not in the North but I can answer that :) Man that North covers a huge area. Maybe you mean in the Milwaukee Wisconsin area. Depends on where you are and what kind of year you have forage etc.

By the way--- North is anything above Greenville SC and thereabouts  :evil:

Some years they make enough off the Goldenrod to make it through winter. Most years you will be helping them with extra feeding to get them up to weight.
Try to think about the extra feeding when your pulling your honey crop.
You may want to leave them a little extra.

Here in central New Hampshire, the fall flow is Goldenrod and Asters. Sometimes it's almost as big as the spring flow.

Find some local beekeepers to ask in the county you live in.  It is very geographically dependent. Rural vs urban.  It varies from year to year.

This year has been great a normal Wisconsin summer not like the heat we had last year and no rain. Right now the hives are full just waiting for them to be capped off and the fall flow to start I don't want to take too much and not have them get through the winter.

I know how much I get down here zero  :hissyfit: I may get a smidgen of gloden rod and aster but not enough to even smear. I envy you guys with a spring and fall flow.

I live in Fond du lac Wi and this year has been very good with lots of nicely timed rain. Everything is still growing strong, unless we get hit by an early frost I think there is lots more to come.
