I 'try' to recycle broodcomb out every 5 years.  We're a long ways away from allowing comb to get as black as night like our ancestors did.  Bummer.

Great ideas in this thread for this newbee:thanks for sharing! Wrt the numbering, is there any marker one should NOT use inside the hive? I'm wondering if marker pens are toxic, or ball point ink. I figure pencil may be too hard to see, with a little time. Paint??

I just use a carpenter pencil, lasts a long time, well...long enough  :)

I use the POSCA paint markers that you can use for marking queens.
