Has anyone every attended one of these events?

The 2014 event is being held in Baton Rouge this January, being just about 30 minutes from me, I was excited to hear this news and figured it would be a great opportunity to attend and check it out.

My enthusiasm faded quickly when I pulled up the webpage and checked out the registration fees...WOW!

We're talking around $350 per person!  Not sure why, but I was expecting something much more "reasonable"...Not saying I'd never do it, but someone would have to convince me it's a "must attend" kind of event.

Seems a little high to me, even early registration. If I lived close the one day pass could be a good intro.

if you're a farmer you can probably deduct it from your income but i would think you'd gain a lot more by attending your state beekeeping association's meeting than you would from this.

I'll be attending the State meeting this weekend...$12 per person via early registration...$20 now...Much more up my alley!  :-D

I attended it last year and enjoyed it, however, at that time I didn't even own bees yet.  I'm really looking forward to it this time around since I've gotten a little real world experience under my belt.

That is about the normal registration for this type of event. I have been to 2 of them so far and they both were really worth it. I went to one in Tampa FL and one across from the aquarium south of St Augustine. Which means I ended up staying in a hotel for 2 days. I also had to take a day off to attend each one.
They both had great speakers and lots to learn about bees.
I will be taking the next course we that comes up in March. Jamie Ellis puts our conference together and does a great job. Last year we had speakers from all across the US plus one couple that came from Germany and a Dr from Brazil who produces green propolis from Africanized bees. A lot of good information and very interesting.
