My students noticed a wasp outside the window the other day (between the window and the screen) and told me that it was moving. I said that it couldn't be (we have had below zero temps and snow). But they were right! The wasp is trapped in that open space, gets rained and snowed on... how can it be surviving all that?

The Queen goes into hibernation through the Winter - 40oC is not a problem, they change there blood to sugars so the don't freeze, like antifreeze in a car.
