I do not have any bees, will wait until next spring. I have plenty of time
to read and study. I have all of the tools and plan to build equipment.
I talked to a local bee keeper and was able to ask some questions
about his operation without sounding like an idiot. I look forward to using
this forum to ask questions and learn from the best.

Thanks,

Welcome to Beemaster Lizzy.
Everything you probably will ever need to know is available by searching past threads. That should be your first priority. It was get you an answer sooner and more thorough than waiting for responses to a question.

If you still feel like asking, go right ahead. Plenty of helpful beeks here. A few not far from you.
Quite difficult matters can be explained even to a slow-witted man, if only he has not already adopted a wrong opinion about them; but the simplest things cannot be made clear even to a very intelligent man if he is firmly persuaded that he already knows, and knows indubitably, the truth of the matter under consideration. -Leo Tolstoy

Welcome to bee master. If you offer to help a local beek, I think you gain more than your time is worth. It will also bee a lot of fun and you can try it before you buy your first hive.

Lizzy, fire away with the questions anyway. I'm about 15 months in to this adventure. I took up the offer to go over to Buds last April, bunch of folks from the board goes over there. Man! he has a ton of hives. I learned a heck of a lot in those couple of days. I had been reading and reading but was lacking with the hands on. They'll teach you how to stick your hand in a swarm of bees and bring a handful out and not get stung. Gosh, I can't emphasize enough the wealth of knowledge that gathers around that place. All age groups and all walks of life.
