Went to check on trap out today, the nuc was full of bees yesterday so I was going to change it out today. I got to the site to find my nuc gone, my cone gone, the hole screened over and dead bees everywhere. A pesticide company had came and left a note with their number that they had came and sprayed all the bees and took my things. This was on private property that i've had permission to be on. The number they left is 855-930-BUGS Insect IQ inc. Do they have the right to do this and poison all of the bees??

I would call the law real quick, then send them a bill for about 450.00. For equipment, bees, and travel I had done.
Unless the land owner hired them, then I would give the bill to them.

If the pest control did not act under the landowners instruction under uk law that would be trespass and criminal damage, plus theft of your property. But local regulations in the u.s. Appear to be a minefield that even the REs would think twice about handling and defusing.

Some US local  authorities seem to think they have  the right to force access to apiaries and seize and destroy upon the slightest pretext of    Suspicion  of infection.
If they increased energy bill for your home by a factor of 4.5 would you consider that cruel? If so why are you doing that to your bees?

if you don't fight them now your apiary might bee next

if they don't pay maybe the number needs to go on a more public thread and every beekeeper in the country calling them constantly during business hours protesting what they did it will cost them more in lost business then if they pay up in the long run. equipment, i colony of bees, time spent, potential honey for the next 2 years potential splits for the next 2 years. if the land owner did not give them permission to be there get all of what you deserve

The pest company made a mistake and put something that looked like a badge on their shirts. They'll be tying folks up next week.

If they acted on their own, take 'em to court and skin 'em up!

If you look at their website, they are also into bee removals. They might of just relocated your nuc!

I would be visiting someone in person. Take pictures. He is a private company not some city official. Call your state apiarist. Talk to the home owner.  Did a neighbor call them out for trap out and he didn't bother checking whose property it was?  Might as well call the cops and make a report he stole your nuc box and bees.

I'm with NotactJack.  If he's done it to you, he's done it to others.  theft is theft and that stuff is not cheap, not to mention your time and effort setting up the trap out.  not sure i'd visit in person unless you can take a neutral witness.....

What did they say when you called trimman?

trimman

they said the city ov gainsville fl told them to do it and they have to do what the city says oh and john also said his son has my nuc full of bees and that he would be glad to return it monday well see if not i will call the police i talked to michael page from fl.dept of ag in tallahasse and he said he new the guy john is his name and didnt understand why he would do that but also said he has been fighting pest co for years and until florida changes laws about the reg honey bee it will contenue so when we all starve to death because there are no bees for pollenate we no who to take out first

trimman

also if you go on one of his sites he says we as beekeepers have no right doing trapouts or cutouts as we are not pro pest people and dont no what we are doing what do youall think

iddee

I would ask the city if they authorized it, and if they say yes, I would ask to see the search warrant to enter the private property.

the owner says it was his prop buuuut how much land does the city own past the sidewalk the tree was about 4 feet past the sidewalk sooo who owns the tree but still why kill the bees

RC

Trimman, call Chappy. You know who I'm referring to. Talk to him about this. He can give some insight.
I seriously doubt the City of Gainseville authorized this. They are the most liberal bunch of tree hungers I've ever seen. And why would the city of Gainesville care what goes on in the city of High Springs? I know it's the same county, but they're not incorporated. I think you're being lied to.
