HI. I am newbee from Indonesia

In this forum i want to tell about bee honey in Indonesia.
In my country have 4 species bee honey;
1. Apis Dorsata/ Giant Bee Honey

2. Apis Cerana/Local Honey Bee

3.Apis Melifera

4.Trigona sp.

Hello Kanbera,

We have all the species of bees in australia you mention except for #1 Apis dorsata.

I'd love to learn how you manage your hives there, and also how the cerana and mellifera interact, as cerana are new here.  There was something on the radio the other morning about cerana and mellifera starting to crossbreed, resulting in infertile eggs.  I missed half of the program though.  I'm not sure if they are cross breeding both ways, cerana queen to mellifera drone, and mellifera queen to cerana drone.  Do you know anything about this, and do those species mix together well in the same area where you are?
