Tomorrow I will be setting out my first set of swarm traps. I will be putting in a full sheet of wired foundation in the middle frame, 2 frames with starter strips to each side and foundationless frames to fill in the box. I have Lemongrass oil for a lure.

My hive boxes are painted and ready to put on stands once I get some bees.
We are suppose to have good weather all this coming week so maybe I will get lucky.

Good luck, I suspect it is still to early for the bees to swarm but sometimes the bees do not know that. I have caught swarms here in January. I have not seen any drones or drone larvae in my observation hive yet. The new drone cells that they built this winter are now full of honey. They should not swarm until there are drones for the new queens to mate with. I plan on putting traps out as zoo as I start seeing drones.

Best of luck, make sure you have one in your apiary.

I don't have an apiary yet. This will be my first year as a hopeful Beek. I am going to try and catch some swarms to start off with.

Yep!  Good luck!

I just went into my lonely hive here in North Alabama, and they don't have an egg.  Lots of bees, lots of honey, no brood.  I tend to catch them starting middle April.
