Hi Les,
yes, the engineering is amazing. Very much " thinking outside the box".

About 50% of the people who buy a nuc of me are Flow owners.

It is interesting and worthwhile to look at the original Flow video. They sell beegear now too.

I'm not sure if I would describe the Flow hives as well built.

People often bring them around here. There are quite a few models now and those i have seen have 20mm boxes and some of the machining....well, you would not approve!

The big issue seems to be getting bees to accept the plastic.

I have one fellow who tells me that his Flow keeps swarming but he can't get them to move into the honey super. Tried everything..beeswax coatings etc.

Also, we have some homney which crystalises very quickly --- jelly Bush, Brush Box.
I wonder how you get such honeys to flow in a Flow?

I should write to them

Michael Bush

I wouldn't call my area "heavy small hive beetle" but we certainly have SHB and I have to manage my hives accordingly.  It's like adding any drawn comb on a colony.  You don't want to give them too much room with not enough bees.

I wonder if some of the thixotropic honeys wouldn't work better with it because it kind of stirs the honey a bit when you open it.  But I don't have any of those kinds of honey here (jellybush ad heather come to mind).
