Quick question. I have a queen coming in the mail today but the weather is looking not so great for today and tomorrow.  Would you just try to get her in there as long as it isn't raining, or would you keep her out in favor of a nice day (Sunday). If keeping her out what precautions should I take to keep her alive in the Queen cage?  Hoping the vote is to put her in because I would get pretty nervous with keeping her in the house or garage

I'd say, a little puff of smoke and put her in - still in the queen cage of course :)

What happened to the original queen?

If you are using a standard langstroth hive with a standard 3/4" bottom opening, you can slide the cage in under the hive with the screen side up. The bees will then feed her and get adjusted to her. A lot of Beekeepers do it this way. You may need to use your hive tool to lift the box up a little.

I made a split due to multiple queen cells.  The cells I left in the main hive didn't produce a queen.  I haphaserdly used the newspaper method to combine the split back to the original hive... Pretty sure they killed her.  The hive has been queenless for weeks now.  The last queen cell opened more than 30 days ago and there are zero signs of a queen in the hive. Fingers crossed that this one takes...
