So this is geared toward those of you who don't have a commerical style pumping system.

I just have 5 hives and have ideas how to fill the feeder but I don't want to make a mess and attract any more ants than i have to.

I just made these this past weekend and have put the boxes on the hives just no the feeders yet.

So I'm assuming there is a cheap easy approach to this?

Why not just reuse a one gallon milk container?

Definitely a good idea which you can also mix in that as well. I think I will give that a shot. I think i may be able to get that close enough not to splash.

You could use a milk jug plus a funnel.

I use one of my 5 gallon (maybe 6)  honey buckets to fill the top feeders.  Just rest bucket on top and open honey gate to fill. No mess.

I?ve used a five gallon bucket with a honey gate to mix. I use a paint mixer on a drill. They then get transferred over to a one gallon jug or three gallon jug. The three gallon jug was originally a cat litter container.

Also please excuse the typos.  My iPad autocorrect can be brutal.

I had this food grade bucket that I was trying to use for open feeder but it leaked however it worked perfectly for me as a hive feeder filling system with a few modifications.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions!
