So I don't know if this works or not but I was really curious if there was any beneficial effect of using menthol type rubs or cream on bee stings.

Has anyone tried this or thought of it? (And I hope its not dangerous also.) I had briefly wondered if it would help soothe out the stings faster?

Personally I find Florasone works best.   Lots of people find Plaintain plants works great, but I won't plant it because it's invasive.
If I'm going to do a big project with bees I don't know, like a cutout, I'll take a couple of generic benadryl antihistamine first, preventively.  It's called diphenhydramine. Some people use a 1% hyrdocortisone cream.  There's also a salt water soak, which can reduce the swelling.

To get a jump start on reaction control right when I'm stung, I smoke myself well, use a light cloth to cover the hive, step away 20 feet, make sure the stinger's out, and use my spray bottle of water to rinse the sting area.
And if you don't have water, creme, or Plantain in your kit, it's said a dab of honey takes a bit of the burn out.

Just a heads up, a lot of people don't know plantain plants are edible and have a lot of uses. (If you still don't like it, its OK. But if there already you can do a lot of stuff with it.) Salads and the like.
