Does any one here follow hummingbird migration?

When I first got into beekeeping my mentor suggested to judge the nectar flow by the humming bird migration.  They are so small they can't migrate into an area unless there is a food source.
I looked at the migration map and compared to reports of blooms and swarms on beemaster.  I think there is a lot to it.  Just curious of what others think.

Sounds reasonable to me jvalentour. I take it as good guidance and advice. Thanks for posting this.

I had a hummingbird crash-land onto my boat (tuna fishing) 70 miles offshore in a thick fog about 18 years ago. We tried to feed it sugar water and keep it warm, but it died. Your thread made me remember this.

There are lots of hummingbirds where I live. All of them began to "arrived" after many years of us planting flowering trees/shrubs/plants/grasses/etc. Now-a-days, we have so many types that I can't count them. My bees start to draw white comb before the hummingbirds show up each year, so ... I'd not wait for them: I'd listen to the bees. ... just my thoughts, based on my area observations.

I put my feeders out 3 weeks ago here in Mississippi and haven?t seen them.  I?m betting I see them this week.

Burley, when does the flow start in your part of Mississippi?

Paus, when does the flow start in your area?

I?m still learning.  Just my 2nd year.  Where I live and where my hives are are about a week apart it seems.  Jackson area right now, red buds are leafing out.  Privet in my backyard looks like it will pop open within a week. White Clover is opening.
