on thursday i checked my hives to see if the bees started to draw out the foundation in the new super (they havent  ) and also checked the drawn out super and the brood box.
i noticed that when i put the drawn super on the ground to look in the brood box the bees all rose to the top of the super even when i smoked them only some went down but they came back up

has this ever happened with anyone elses bees?

its not something im worried about just something i noticed

Did you put the super on its side--that is the way that I would recomend.  However, I am not sure that I understand your problem...

Where'd you put the super.  In romoving it the normal practice is to set it cross wise on the overturned top so that the bees have space under the super.  Putting it on the ground will force the bees out of the hive because they will displaced by the grass.
