Nov 5 we elected the Electoral College.
Dec 17 the Electoral College voted. (the actual presidential election)
Today, Jan 6 the votes were officially counted and Donald Trump and J.D. Vance were declared the winners of the election.
Donald Trump is now the president elect.

He's been the de facto president since Nov 5.  Now he's actually the President elect.
