Extraction/crush and strain/starter strip question

I'm going to crush and strain 10 medium and 5 deep frames tsunday can I leave a one inch strip of comb and honey in the top for a starter strip?

The thing about crush and strain is that you can cut the comb anywhere - if you want all of the honey in the comb, you cut close to the edge of the frame, but if you want to leave starter strips, you can.  I cut close to the frame and put the drippy frames back in the hive for the bees to clean up.  They built a little comb then and Michael B said that I could put them into the hives just like that for starter strips - in other words, they don't have to have strips - just a model.  You can see the pictures of that in this post:

I put those frames in the hives as starters about a week ago and I'll report on Monday as to how/if the bees are drawing them out.

You don't need a one inch strip. One row of cells is plenty and a half row of cells will do.
