On a lighter note, as I read the subject line I also realized how my mind has been "trained" to think along certain paths.

So far, it has been pretty quiet here. Just a few rain squalls. Still waiting for the south east side of Michael to hit.

So far so good. We have a band going over us right now. Winds have picked up but not much rain. We had more rain from the bands of Michael yesterday than we have had today. Not a bad thing. :grin:

800,000 homes without electricity in panhandle of Florida, according to The Weather Channel.
And in some areas, almost total destruction. It is really bad where it came on shore.
I pray for them.

This Friday AM the Weather Channel now reports 1.4 million without power. All cell towers were knocked out in hurricane/s path. No food, no water, no power, no communication,,,, I am at a loss for words.
This one was bad. Pray for the survivors.

People prepare for hurricanes and have food and water and generators. FEMA will be there with ice bottled water and food and other necessities. Church congregations load up things to pass out and help clean up. Team effort. Most evacuated and are safe. The hard part is dealing with insurance and finding a timely honest contractor for repairs.

There was time to go to Biloxi or somewhere just before it got bad. I looked at traffic that day and it was moving. The day before was the traffic jam. I live in Louisiana and I would go if near the eye.

You are right, I would not leave for a cat 1 but we were expecting cat 3. I don?t ride out cat 3 hurricanes. And we had enough time to leave with this one.
