The guy I did this removal for, Mr. John, is a retired airforce pilot who flew in WWII. He was such a nice guy and had a very analytical mind. He asked me question after question about bees and I asked if he had done some research and he said no and he doesn't go on the computer. I was amazed at his perspective and reasoning.

He asked about: the bee's normal travel range, beelining, how wax was made, how honey was made, if I didn't get all of the bees, could they turn one of the bees into a queen? How long does honey last? Etc...

He had a bunch of stories and we talked and talked about flying and bees and fishing. He even has a bayou behind his house, (note to self, take a pic of bayou next time).

Anyway, One heck of a time we had.

Before I left I watched the weather forecast and it was predicting over 100mph winds in the area with heavy rain and tornado watches.

I made it to the causeway bridge of lake Pontchartrain, paid the toll lady, she handed me a receipt, I rolled up my window, then she knocked on my window and told me I couldn't go anywhere as the causeway bridge, which is a 24mile bridge, btw, was now closed due to severe weather.

I waited in that spot for 45 minutes.

Got home safe and all is well.

JP, ooh, that wind is scarey stuff, eeks!!! Nice pictures.  Nice that you spent time with this dude, tell me, what on earth is a bayou?  I am too lazy to google it on the internet.  Waitin' for you to enlighten this gal.  Have a beautiful and most wonderful day.

Ha! and here I just thought it was the accent being translated into print, as in

"Stand rot there, ah have the camra set to take a pitcher of me standing rot bayou."

(Stand right there, I have the camera set to take a picture of me standing right by you."

Gotta tell ya'll this lil story Mr. John told me of himself and grandchild. He has a part lab/catahoula now, a pretty cool dog btw, and we were talking about dogs, anyway I told him of my rat terriers and he showed me where his former little "rat" fellow was buried.

He said the lil grandchild came over one day and started pulling all of his flowers up, and in his sense of humor between the two of them, he had told her,"ya know what I do with lil kids that pull up my flowers like that?"  "I get my axe and cut some fingers off (like I said, this is something between them) anyway, he goes to get the axe and comes back to the scene of the crime and his grandaughter is placing the flowers over his late little rat terrier fellow's grave site.

He said he just didn't have the heart to cut off fingers that day. I guess us men get a lil sappy in our older yrs.

Man, I had this great uncle that wanted to kiss you whenever he saw you, an older Italian fellow, was a real stud in his youth, he would tear up in his older years at the drop of a hat, very sentimental. He tried to kiss everyone, whenever he'd see you, and I liked the man, loved this man, but come on, I'm like uncle Vincent, man, I'm 18 now, come on!!! He's say come on give me a kiss!! It was rough!!! ;)

Keith, thank you for the description, I always wondered what a bayou was, heard songs about it, always wondered.

JP, I like the story of John and the grandchildren, lucky that little gal put the flowers back on the "rat" for sure, hee, hee, she must have had the fear of the devil himself within her tiny soul.  Beautiful and most greatest days, loving our lives we share.  Cindi

That child knew exactly what she was doing when she pulled the flowers, and knew that her Grandad was a softy. ;)

A Bayou is a subtropical slough.  JP's description is more pictureques.
