This Could Have Been Disastrous

The homeowners say this is the second time they've had bees in this same location. Boy did the bees pick an interesting spot to challenge me!

If they had expanded deep in the void space it would have been one heck of a job getting everything out. Would had to have cut a floor or a ceiling out to get 'em.

Notice the ac wiring & tubing & air ducts, etc... There is no access to any of this stuff from the inside. The bees were able to fly right out of several air vents, and they wound up all over the house and even upstairs.

Anyway, here are some pics of the removal & a swarm I almost dealt with yesterday, but the queen had already moved in & the woman said she'd rather have 'em sprayed than pay so I left. : http://picasaweb.google.com/pyxicephalus/May212008

From the looks of it, not 'may', but will.

Lovin the pix! So far its just been swarm calls for me - but I'm excited to try my hand at hive removal too. I wonder what kind of gear I'll need? Do I have to get any contractor's certification done? It looks like you did some replacment of the siding. Any ladder suggestions?

Looks like you scrapped every last bit of comb out - good job!

Look above for sticky for a tool list needed for cutouts. Its hard work, but you will learn more about bees than you could imagine. It is also fun at times.

Actually, its fun most of the time, especially when you have an audience that is captive. What more could you ask for, a captive audience and a new beehive!

Captive audiences are always nice especially when its not your wife, cause they wanna hear about the bees, yiur wife on the other hand hears about them everyday, she's sick of hearing about bees! :-D
