Greetings from Japan

I'll be retiring soon and will have a lot of free time.  I have always been interested in bees and I like gardening.  I figure these two hobbies are related.  Can anybody in Japan help me get started.  Thanks.

Welcome, you will find all the info you need to get started and to continue here. Just keep looking and asking questions and you will also find out that experience cannot be over stressed. Just get started and make your mistakes, that is about the way it goes. It is a very addicting hobby.
What part of japan are you in? I spent quite a bit of time in Osaka, and lived in Minabe, down on the southern tip of Wakayama Ken for quite a while as well.

Kanichiwa, Gaiging.   I was stationed at Chitose, Hokaido back in the late 60's, we called it the land of Jello because with 3 active valcanos at the time the ground was always shaking.  It was then I learned I could sleep through 4.0 earthquake.  Which Island are you on?   A little different type of bee there but the principles are the same.

Yes, I agree. The beauty of Japan can hardly by equalled. I had the experience of living in both the concrete jungle of Osaka, and the tiny fishing village of Minabe. Just amazing. Both places have their beauty. I would love to be able to take tours over there or something and share the things that I learned and experienced. Learning the language was of course tough, but I like to talk way to much to have stayed silent for very long. So, I picked it up pretty quick. (plus it made navigating Hawaii much easier) :-D As most of you who speak a second language have found out, most other languages are fairly simple compared to english. Once you have the basics of a language it is easy to hold onto as most of their rules hold true. Our rules of english are all over the place. Makes teaching english a very difficult task. Thats for sure.
Kathy, I just noticed your new signature and I have to say Amen. The other day when Mcain's aide called us a bunch of winers I wanted to say "Duh" I know most americans took offense to that, but I thought that he was dead on. Sorry off post subject. I know.
