Medicating for the winter

I just read that Apistan needs to be in the hive for 42 days to be effective.  I'm in Connecticut and wondering if I should be thinking about putting the strips in now so that they can be removed mid September, or is it okay to wait a  while longer?

You would probably want to test to see if you need to medicate.  If you have a mite problem, you should hang the strips around October 1 and pull them out six weeks later (around November 15).  ABSOLUTELY, do not leave the strips in beyond eight weeks (December 1)!

i would use apiguard.  it also take around a month and day temps need to be + 60 degrees.  i also agree that you should know that you need to treat.  if you have 1st year hives, you probably don't.
