Introduced new queen into split hive Thursday.  She was released between Friday afternoon and Saturday around noon.  Checked today (Sunday) to see if she was accepted.  I was worried she wasn't because while I was observing the frames I noticed there were many cleaned cells but no eggs anywhere.  None.  And I was looking hard.  Then finally I see her roaming around on the next to last frame (10 frame box) which contains honey and pollen.  What the heck is she doing wandering around over there?  Time to get to work, missy!  I thought they lay 1500+ eggs a day?  Does it take her some time to get in gear or could she not be mated?  Or should I forget about my bees for a week and let them do their thing?!

Thanks

I hear it can take up to two week's for a queen to start laying.

In some cases it can take a little while to get them started.  I still believe that in situations where a dearth is one of the factors slowing this start, it's better to go ahead and feed 1:1 for a little while to help them get her well fed.  A well-fed queen is a little more likely to get going, seems to be...

My queen started laying the same day she come out!!  Something is wrong with yours!!   Just kidding, just kidding.  I couldn't help it.  Mine then stopped laying when I stopped feeding them.

ArmucheeBee, you got me there!  Not sure if I should start feeding.  My other hive is building comb and bringing in nectar.  And today the split hive had a big orientation flight, so I think a lot of the house bees graduated.  So hopefully they will be stocking up the kitchen.  In fact we are about 2-3 weeks away from a big flow all the local beekeepers are talking about.  They say the biggest of the summer but the honey isn't supposed to be the greatest.  So they told me to pull my full supers soon.
