Can pollen patties go bad?

I've noticed that my supplier recommends that I freeze unused pollen patties, but then I have to deal with unthawing, etc.  They come in a 12# roll.  I'm wondering if I can just keep them in the refrigerator, as I'm starting to use them now and will continue to do so throughout the winter.  Thanks!

feezing will arrest deterioration, refrigeration only slows it down.
