GEAR PUMP

If someone has built their own gear pump system could you please give me some advice? I have motors and plates but the actual pump seems to be elusive. Is there a model number of the Moyno or similar manufacturers pump that is standard? Can you buy the parts to build them? Through what source can you buy a pump direct from the manufacturer? Are there used or rebuilt suppliers? I know these are available through the beekeeping suppliers.I'm trying to build this as economical as possible.

Dont use anything less than -N9000-try to get 1 1/2-(inch and a half) ports -the N900 is standard one inch honey pump 8-)

what kind of system are you thinking about -there is also worm drive units -depends on aplication-whats the set up-

I'm winging it at this point. From my 20 frame extractor into a 12 gallon sump. I need the pump to to take honey from the sump to a 25 gallon bottling tank or storage tanks. Who makes the worm pumps? I try to buy used or build my own. A local retired beek told me that he used to use a perforated section of pipe wrapped in nylons at the end of the fill pipe coming from the pump to filter. Any suggestions here?

I have a gear pump that I made by modifying an oil pump from a small block chevy. I have never used it for honey but I see no reason why it won't work. I run my diesel trucks on waste vegetable oil and use this pump to move the oil. In the winter, the oil can be quite thick......like honey. Got it Steve. Pretty cool. I see these pop up on Ebay now and then. Maybe an after market SS unit would qualify as food grade? Thanks!

RDY-B Have you built one with this bronze pump???

I bought one of these new on ebay and planned to use it for syrup as opposed to honey. No worries about leaching lead and darkening the honey from the bronze?

That is the number from my honey pump which i bought from mannlake-no worries-like i mentioned dont go under one inch -I warm my honey in a jacketed sump direct from extractor-to 90-degrees-i also had my motor which is 3/4 horse wired for 220 that made a big difference on pumping honey that wasn't Hoter than i preferred-for syrup i sopose a gas engine would be dandy for feeding :lol: RDY-B

very Excellent. The pump I bought is 1.5 inch in and out. I was going to have to neck it down for syrup.

I considered its use in the honey house, but was not sure. Now I am. Thanks. I appreciate it. I think I bought the pump itself for 60 bucks on ebay a year or two ago.. Prolly couldnt find it for that price now.

I do have an old terrible woodsman honey pump I can use for syrup pumping and yep. I am about to tear apart an old rototiller cause it has a horizontal shaft and build up the syrup pump... The woodsman kicks out black gunk into syrup so I think that pump is spent, but good for syrup.....
