not the greatest cutout.  hive was in a tight corner. got what i could, then hubby with the long arms took a crack at it.  we got lots of brood, but missed the queen.  we'll see what happens, but i think i'll have to give the brood to another hive and call it good.  don't know if i even got enough of the workers to cover the brood that we took.   to bad because the hive had been there a couple of years and looked really healthy.  hate to waste a good queen.  and...probably no pictures because most were butt shots of me squirming under the hive.   :-*

OH come on Kathy, Show the butt photos???

But this post makes me think that although I would love to take photos of the cutout I will be helping with next weekend, I am not sure if I will be able to do that.  Firstly, I do not want to get my camera dirty and I really hope to be able to get in there with my hands and truly help out.  Also the area we are going to work in is going to be very cramped and may not have room to actually step back and take the photos.

Cant promise anything.

So those cutouts can be a pain sometimes I see Kathy.  Your hubby helps you and that is great.

when you are laying flat on a board across attic beams with your head alternately in the hive and in the insulation, it's a bit of a challenge.  i would say that this is the first one i didn't enjoy.  nasty bees too. we both took a lot of stings.  on the + side, we got a lot of nice brood and i think we got enough bees to manage the hive.  i'll know better tomorrow after they have settled a bit.  at worst, i'll have to combine them and i have a hive that can use the brood.

do try to get some pics when you start at least.  you can always get a disposable camera for the adventure.  :-)

i got a small and cheaper Nikon digital for this kind of stuff and for my RC stuff.  it does a pretty good job and if it gets trashed it wouldn't break my heart.

Attic removals are some of the tougher removals one can perform. Kudos for your efforts Kathy.

thanks jp.  this one gets  filed under learning experience.  at least the guy can close up the holes and his problem will be solved.  he'll have some dead bees up there, but we got 90% of the hive out.

cindi, there is a fine line between guts and stupidity  :-)

hubby learned about tucking in his shirt
