a question about queens

they were lookin like they were getin ready to swarm
there were many swarm cells, So I did a shook swarm the queen
went with it.
 that was 10 days ago , thats ten days queenless for the old hive
I had a hard time finding queens for sale b4 june
 now I have a queen on the way

what should I do, do I need to go kill the queen cells
b4 one comes out ? I know it takes 16 days to make a queen
but my queen will be here tues. or wed.

What did you do with the swarm cells?

If they were capped and you left them then the queen would have emerged somewhere between two days ago and ten days ago.  If you removed them and there were any three day old larvae then the queens will emerge in about three days.

It takes 16 days from when the egg is layed to make a queen.  But since they start with a 3 day old larve it takes 13 days from when you make them queenless for them to raise a queen.  Then it takes two more weeks before she starts to lay.

If you left the swarm cells you'd already have a new queen.  Why wouldn't you want that?

no cap swarm cells when I DID IT
BUT I BET THERES QUEEN CELLS NOW

so if I didn't want them to make a new one and
except the one I give them , should i destroy
all cells now b4 one comes out?
