My nucs were finally ready this week and I picked them up Friday. I now have 2 happy little hives sitting in my backyard. Just in time for the Tulip Poplars! I'm hooked and even went out to buy a tripod to make it easier to take pictures of the bees.

Thanks! The most difficult thing I'm faced with right now is resisting the urge to open up the hives and take a peek. Luckily, both hives are strong so there is plenty of activity at the entrances. One of the hives only needs to fill out 4 frames before I can add a super. I might do a quick peek tonight if the weather cooperates. If not, I definitely need to check it tomorrow.

Manfre......opening the hive may set them back some..but this is your first year...learn...the bees in your area will have plenty of time to store food for your winter, so have fun...look in every week...TAKE NOTES....don't be inside to long... but enjoy.

great names! absolutely perfect. - it would be so -wrong- of me to snag the name "hegemone" for our unnamed queen. ( I bet the romans had one - heh heh.)
be happy and make others happy.
