When making a solar wax melter, how much of a difference does it make to use glass vs. using clear plastic for the top?

A good solar melter your talking about 180 degrees +++

Regular plastic don't work good.

There is a new high priced plastic that will work though !

Research will find the info.

Here in FL, I am using 1/8" clear plastic.  It works just fine.  Maybe not as fast a glass wood but I usually just leave it out all day anyway.

Here in Ky I used 1/8 lexan,,,,,,, no problem

Thanks guys for the comments.  I went with the lexan and it melted the wax in an afternoon.  Glass might get hotter faster (not sure) but the lexan got hot enough, fast enough, and is not as likely to break while in storage.
