i 've got a small swarm that took up in an old 10 frame deep. it's in bad shape and my other hives are robbing it hard and heavy. i'm going to move them but i'd like to get them into some 8 frame mediums at the same time. i was thinking of putting the queen and about 4 of the old deep frames in the new equipment, then eventually replace them after the hive settles in. any thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated.
when you're dumb, ya gotta be tough.

first thing I would try is reducing the entance to one or two inches to slow the robbing down. Putting them in an eight frame or even a five frame nuc will help. Give them only enough frames that they can cover. If you are going to feed them don't use a boardman type feeder (one that goes into the entrance with a quart jar) it will promote robbing.

Hope this helps and good luck with it.
