When do bees stop laying for the winter in the south,like Tx,S.C. and La.

How long do they stop for ?

in extreme southeast louisiana where i live we have brood all year unless it gets very cold for an extended period.

i have seen brood in december and january for the last 2 years.

most often i find my greatest source of stress to be OPS  ( other peoples stupidity )

It is better to keep ones mouth shut and be thought of as a fool than to open ones mouth and in so doing remove all doubt.

Thank-you, bailey.  I was wondering the same thing and was waiting for someone to answer this thread.  I had surgery last summer and was unable to do many inspections over the winter so I couldn't answer the question and last year was my first year as a beek.

I plan on going in once a month when the weather is nice this year and keep a record of what I find.  It sure will be more comfortable in my bee suit !!!!

I have a handkerchief that has some gel material in it that I got from work and I soak it in ice water and wrap it around my neck under my bee suit.  Really helps in this heat.

 SC---I have not looked closely for myself but my mentor who has been keeping bees 30+ years seze we are usually only broodless in January.

I don't have alot of experience but for two winters in Mobile AL they had brood most of the winter. Not a whole lot but there was usualy some.
