Well, not really.  At the end of September my Husband and I went up to our Daughters' houses in the interior of our province, to attend a gymkana event for our Grandson and Daughters and to get the tack shed ready to bring our chickens up to, when we make that enormous move, which will be something like Noah's arc, smiling.

My Husband and our Son-in-Law and me and my Daughters and everyone worked hard for a couple of days to ready this structure.  When we left, it was mostly done, but it was brown.  I get this picture in my e-mail from my Daughter a few days later, and lo and behold, this chicken barn is now painted red.  Beautiful.  It matches the colour of her other barn, beautiful again.  This is a chicken palace, pretty proud of the work that we all did and it gonna make for some pretty nice place for the chickens to live, and store the stuff that goes along with bees and chickens, smiling.  She doesn't realize it yet, but I am going to sneak my colony of bees somewhere on her property, she will be assimilated.....enjoy this picture, have that most beautiful and wonderful day, and love and live it with that great health.  Cindi

What a nice chicken barn!! Love the cheery red. And love your idea of sneaking in a hive or 3 :) I would love to get my family into beeking, too!

I might suggest keeping the bees on the opposite corner of the property from the chickens.  From all I have heard from a poultry farmer  I know in Texas, bees and chickens don't always make good neighbors.

Looks like you have a rail that you can tie the horse to also :)

Oooo, really?  :(  I am thinking of getting some chickens in the spring.  Do they eat the bees?  Or do the bees sting them?  Oh, that's going to really bum me out.

I so need a bigger yard!  Heck, I so need a farm! : /

Cindi, your chicken house looks beautiful and so does the location - what a beautiful blue sky and wide open spaces!  I'm sure it will be a beautiful place to live and worth the "Arc" odyssey to be close to family! :)

I stand corrected.  I am right now talking to the poultry farmer, asking him to elaborate.

Apparently, his issue with chickens and bees isn't the chickens and bees, rather the contractors (who he sells the chickens to when it's time) who may have rules against chickens and bees in the same place.

So there you have it, directly from the chicken farmers mouth, chickens love bees (he did say that it isn't impossible that a chicken would try to eat a bee now and then, just not likely).

Whew!! Thank you Big Bear for following up on that for me!! You've made me a happier in-town farmer :).  I can't imagine what sanitary issue the contractors have with bees, but as mine will only be for personal and friend egg consumption, I don't think it will be something I will worry about. :)

Thanks again!  Hooray for fresh eggs!!

Ha, chickens and bees, yep, yep, they pay no mind, and chicken's don't like to eat bees, smiling.  Get a load of Isabelle when she went into the apiary one day on that merry jaunt to find bugs, the bees were landing all over her, probably thought it was me in my bee suit, and they LOVE me, they are my dearest pals, smiling....have that most beautiful and great day, beautiful health.  Cindi

Mick....my Daughter has 6 horses, the chickens and horses should have a merry ol' time, smiling.

Would the chickens mind a long term guest?  That is one nice looking chicken coup house.

He who would gather honey must bear the sting of the bees.

Cindi. How many times did you have to wash that bird to get her that clean?  ;) Looks like she is ready for the fair.
