Has anyone else noticed that the price of sugar has gone ballistic since last fall?  Last fall, I paid $4.50 for a ten pound bag at the local grocery store and now the same bag is $6.50!

They didn't even put "New and Improved" on the package to justify the price increase!

What are you paying?

Aldi's had 5lb for 1.65 last fall. I bought 600 lb. I don't need any more for a while.

We have an Aldi store close by so I'll check it out.  600 pounds is a lot of sweetener!

That's about what I was paying last fall, camero!  Maybe I'm just seeing a local thing and should shop a little more.

Thanks!

I am paying about .45 a pound for sugar from either walmart or aldi. I know that walmart is cane sugar, it says so on the bag, but aldi just says sugar, so i am unsure if it is cane or beet sugar. will feeding beet sugar affest the bees any differently?

I checked out Walmart yesterday and a 10 pound bag of sugar had dropped from about $6.50 to $5.50.  I bought a couple of bags but I thought I might wait 2-3 weeks and see if the price drops to the price range that it was last fall ($4.50).

Wal-Mart 25lb bag is $11.49.  That's .46 cents a pound.  Actually better price than it was last summer.  Was $12.58 for 25lb bag last summer.

$2.47 at the local NH grocery store. I wish I was a member of Costco or Wal-Mart sold bigger bags around here.

Woodchopper, is that $2.47 for 5 pounds?

Found some 4 lb bgs for $1.99 :)doak

25# for +/- $13 at Cosco.  The 50# bag saves you a dollar over 2 25# bags but my wife can't lift the 50# bag.

Crud....since my earlier response, I went by WalMart.  Peeked at the sugar.  $14.59 for 25lb bag!!!  That's a $3 increase in 2 days!  YIKES!

A month ago I bought 50#s in 10 # sacks for $3.00 a sack from our local amish dent and bent grocery outlet wish I had bought him out. ITs hit and miss but somedays he'll bring in pallets full.

I've noticed that you have to be careful with some stores.  They have begun to put 4# bags of sugar on the shelves at the 5# price!
