entercover or not

do you really need the entercover or is it ok not to have one?   ...schawee

If you are using a migratory cover then it is unnecessary.  If you use telescoping covers you'll find it nearly impossible to get the cover of if you don't use them.

Without an inner cover the bees will eventually propolize the telescoping cover to the box.  There is no convenient way to pry off a telescoping cover in that case.  Migratory covers only overlap the boxes on two sides, so you still have the two other sides to get your hive tool under.
