I did an inspection this afternoon.  There was drone brood in the comb the bees built between the topbar and bottom bar of the frames.  Unfortunately I broke some open.  I saw no mites on any of the brood that was exposed.  I only saw a handful of larva, but no mites.  Is that enough to give me a feel for the mites in the hive?  I need to get screened bottom boards on, but just have not as of yet.

It is still early in the season.   They will get worse thru summer.
