Normally, I'm very excited about my choice of geography for my home.  Not a whole lot beats my nice view of the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains--at home and at my office.

But, I woke up this morning to 3 inches of snow on the ground probably another 2 or 3 inches have fallen since then.

I'm reading about how many of you have caught multiple swarms already and, well, I'm just a little jealous.  I realize that there several of you north of the 49th parallel, and this happens every year...but since last year was my first beekeeping season...and my beekeeping plans keep getting delayed again and again by lousy bee weather.  Water is a big deal around here, so I'm happy for the moisture, but still... it's all just a bit frustrating.  Sorry, end of rant.  ;)

Today you're the bug. "Tomorrow" when things there make us wish we were there you'll be the windshield.

I'm in FLORIDA!   8-) Heh, heh, heh...  Eat yer heart out!  I was born in Denver, so I know what you're talking about.  Out there, they have 2 seasons:  Winter and the 4th of July!  :'(  I went to college in Utah.  My graduation day was on June 2nd.  On June 1st I woke up to 4" of snow on the ground.  :-x  Graduation was OUTSIDE the next day.  That's why I live here now.  Here we have TWO honey flows!  It's a veritable beek's paradise--except for the hive beetles, that is.

I too wonder at the longer seasons others have. Both for beekeeping and for gardening. But I'm not sure that I could last long without the mountains I grew up with. Don't worry the swarms are a coming and Mile High Honey is the best anyway...

Mile High Honey is the best anyway...

alfred, You know, I think you're right about that.  Last year was my first year and the girls produced about 50 lbs. honey from two hives that we extracted.  I gave a lot of it away to family, friends and neighbors.  I thought it was the best honey I ever tasted, but of course I was completely biased so I kept my thoughts to myself.  Then, I had three other people who I gave honey to go out of their way to tell me.  And my neighbor, in particular, grew up on a farm in Nebraska and had several sources of home grown honey.  He made a specific trip to my house to say that it was the best he'd ever had.  He wants me to locate a couple hives on his property now.   :-D

Last year I think that it was the wild sage.  It was everywhere around us last year.

Well, up here we can have up to three or four (agricultural) flows (in really good years).  Of course, they all happen between 10 June and 20 August!
