Sorry folks, I know you've seen bees before, but I think my lovely wife got some great shots today:

Nice photos, thanks for sharing! I always get a little choked up when I see a nice queen, and I don't know, is it only me or do the rest of ya'll think think those larvae with the wrinkly lil' butts are just cute as buttons?

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag...We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

   We can never have enough photos Bix. Did your wife shoot that macro style or were the pics zoomed and blown up?  Inquiring minds wanna know!  :-D   Actually since i've been in the bee hobby now 3 years, I've wanted to upgrade my digital camera from the lowly 3.2mp to one of the Cannon Rebel models. Just  that my slush fund seems to always buy more bee supplies instead of other toys...

I was more choked up looking at the bees feeding the larvae and attending to them.  I find it very touching.

Doug,

Yes, she was up close and personal with the macro setting, those were the raw photos.  We have an older Fuji Finepix S7000.  A couple of the hives we inspected were hotter than normal (might have been fighting with a skunk the night before).  They didn't like the black camera and head butted it quite a bit.

The pedigree of honey
Does not concern the bee;
A clover, any time, to him
Is aristocracy.
