When decapping coomb, do you use a knife or a scrapper/scratcher.  I've used a regular knife as well as a heated knife, but found both to be problematic. With comb not being perfectly flat, it's requires that I  have to make several passes over the comb, using a knife.  Does the scrapper/scratcher work better?

Both.  I use a serrated Cutco knife heated in a pan of boiling water for uncapping.  Any low spots missed I'd use a capping scratcher.  I wouldn't use a scratcher for all of it.  Too messy and time consuming.  You get better results with a knife for most combs.

I've used nothing but a scratcher for the last 5 years- quick and easy.
