today during an inspection I took out a frame ( plastic) that the bees drew out funny this occurred right after putting the bees in the hive, and they never really fixed it, so I scraped the little bit of wax off the frame and put the frame back in. well to get the wax off I had to get the 20 or so bees off of the frame. right after I put the now empty frame back in only 20  or so bees came back to that frame.

so here is my question are bees assigned a certain frame to work on?

I have absolutely no idea.  Don't know if the question has ever been researched.  I suppose someone could pull a frame and if they were quick with a paint brush could mark a number of bees on a frame.  The next day pull some frames and see where they went.

it was just really odd that there was limited bees on the frame and after doing my thing, there were the same limited number of bees, although not sure if they were the same bees
