This weekend, is National Honey Bee Day. I was wondering if anyone on the forum was taking part in any of the programs around the country?

I will be traveling to a place called Buffalo Junction in Mecklenburg County Virginia, to spend time with beekeepers putting on a program by the newly formed Mecklenburg County Beekeepers Association. It would be nice to see if anyone down there is from the forum.

In my local area, members of the Pennsylvania Backyard Beekeepers Association will be stationed at the observation and learning center based at Gifford Pinchot State Park.

I hope that for all those that are making the effort, the best weekend possible for all involved.

I'm doing an all day cut-out from a chimney in a two storey house that's being demolished :)

What is the program in VA going to be?

I'm not sure which group you are referring. I don't keep tabs on all the programs, but the one I'm attending is going to be at local state park, with promotion to the public to attend an educational talk on bees, etc. I'm kind of going down blind and will assist on whatever they cam up with.

Mike, I was referring to the program you were participating in.  Looks like Tom added some details.  Thanks....

But they both are keeping the exact location secret. It must be a private party. Invitation only?

I spoke to Thomas and he will hopefully give more details.

I do know the festivities are at the occoneechee state park, which can be found here...

I know I'm going for the home cooking and to meet other beekeepers. Whatever the events are, that just the cream on top.  :-D

Hello all as mike stated the event will be held in the occoneechee state park in Clarksville and it is open to anyone that wishes to come out and join in. This is our first event but we are hoping for a good turn out and a chance for fellow beekeepers to come together and tell any and everyone about how important the honeybee is to us and our enviroment. We will have baked goods on sale that is made with all honey no sugar and to tell young and old about the honeybee and why we love raising them.
