When you install your queen, put a GPS collar on her, that way you should be able to tell which frame she is on from the start.   JP never tells you that in the videos.   A lot of time when they find the queen, it is a trick, done with smoke and mirrors.    You can also send her off for training, so that she will come to you when you call her.    :-D

Really, After a while, they do just pop up and you can start to expect the queen in certain locations.  On the frames, she is normally faced by a circle of workers.   It just takes time, and it is much easier in the early spring with not as many bees in the hive.
