I got stung this fall.  I've been building the boxes (10 frame, mediums).  I'm hoping to get started with nucs in April or May 2011 with the bees.  I seriously thinking about the mite resistant bees from Glen Apiary.

in your profile, if you would put your location, it will help with info later.

Welcome Jeff! You've got some great beekeepers in your state on here...I'm sure you'll find answers to your questions!

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag...We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

I can't believe all of the information here.  This is great.

Building boxes?  Ya you are hooked. Building stuff is just half the fun.  ;)

Welcome, I am new to this as well. I have my two hives completely assembled and ready to go. Now its time to wait. I am up in Corvallis, so we are pretty close. The Lane county Beekeeper Association is fairly close to you, they have meetings once a month. Meetings are held the 3rd Tuesday of the each month at 7:30 P.M. (Except for December-no meeting) Door's open at 7:00pm for the early bee's. We have been meeting at the Trinity Methodist Church although since I am new and have only been a few times, I am not sure if that will change. You can come a few times to decide if you want to join. If you do join they have several extractors you can borrow for a weekend all around Eugene and Springfield. I hope to see you there!
