I'm hoping I can do a quick inspection today.. Just to see how the bee's are doing on food, etc.. The temps here today are going to bee in the low to mid 40's.  Is it okay to open the hives up and have a quick look at some frames? Do I need to smoke them a bit before doing so even though it's still fairly chilly?

Thanks y'all!

If they are flying good it would be ok to open for a quick look. If not, I would wait for a warmer day.

Tomorrow afternoon before the snow comes will be the warmest day we will have this week.  Look for the sun shining in the afternoon Monday.

i agree with iddee, always use smoke!
if they are flying and the day isnt windy you can get a quick look.
no flying= no looking!
cold bees can be extra pissy!  beware! use smoke or suffer the wrath of  cold/ grumpy/ bored girls!!

Thanks y'all.. Sounds like i'll just wait.  I was looking at both hives today and there is NO MOVEMENT whatsoever.  :(  But then again, it's only out 41.6 degrees outside right now..

I hope all is okay in there!
