I'm a new beekeeper from West central Florida.I'm just starting out and this looks like the right place to learn the in and outs of beekeeping and get advice should I have any problems along the way.
I decided to take up beekeeping after last Springs vegetable garden gave very little due to lack of pollination. This was very disappointing because my garden was the best I'd ever grown and had blossoms galore, but had very little bee traffic. This was the first time this had happened and I think it was because a guy that lived about a half mile from me that had about 30 hives that sold honey and other bee products and got rid of all his hives or maybe moved his operation elsewhere,I'm not sure which.I don't use pesticides in my garden and use organic methods to control pests and diseases,so I know that's not the reason for the lack of bees visiting it.
I'm looking forward to making new friends and gaining knowledge here to do successful beekeeping. :-D

I've met several people on here I would call my friends,(not sure if the feeling is mutual though. :-D,  But I've gained a ton of knowledge asking questions and searching through old post.  Everyone is more than willing to help you out with any question you may have.

Good luck and welcome.

Welcome from Volusia County.  I am new this year and have learn alot in the past 2 months from this website and a few others.  I got my first bees (a swarm) on Thursday and transfered them into their permanent home ( I hope) on Friday.  It was fun watching them this weekend.

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag...We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."
