Killed Hive what you would have done

Had an agressive hive that had been getting worse stinging people 10-15 feet away so I was planning on splitting into 4 nucs and single deep and putting in queen cells took off medium. That i had added to give them more space and bees were all over me had on jacket with zipper veil with in seconds my jeans were covered with bees thick as a brood frame with hunderds attacking veil gloves ect i resmoked and walked away but bees kept on and started to sting tru jeans finaly got my daughter to get some soapy water spray and spray jeans to get bees off smoke wouldn't help waited and tryed again couldnt even get a frame out with out beeing covered in bees as this hive is at my office i had to do some thing so finaly had some one go to a store and get dry ice took out 2 frames put in nuc box and droped in dry ice put lid back on bees still all over me and stinging finally had to get in truck suited up and turn on ac  and leave after being sprayed down with soappy water but still lots of bees  got about 25 -30 stings looked at pants later and it looked like i had taken a walk in the woods so many stingers looked like small seed pods

That goes back to the saying, "Do as I say, not as I do".

I would recommend the same as you did.

Me, tho, being the bull headed idiot I am, would have waited til night, loaded them and moved them into a desolate yard. Then I would have suited up well and made the split as you wanted to do, being sure I removed all queen cells, the queen, all drone cells, and any drones I found. Then requeened with queens, cells, or marked frames of eggs from another hive. Check 5 days later and remove any q cells on unmarked frames.

Of course, I catch live rattlesnakes, too.

I've ran across lots of real mean Italian bee hives in my area and we have never had, nor do I believe we ever weill, Afracianized bees.

Most stings from an PO'd Italian Hive 379 in 1963.    The solution for a mean hive is to either split it or pinch the queen, and preferrably both.
