Painting the corners of an active hive

I've noticed the paint on the finger joints of my brood chambers and honey supers hives is peeling off. Can the corners be touched up while being used in an active hive? :?

I would swap the frames into other boxes so you can properly scrape or sand the peeling paint. IMO it isn't worth painting unless you prepare the surface first.

If all you are wanting to do is to touch up your corners, I sure would disrupt the whole colony in order to do so. Dab a little on there and all will be well. Then maybe next year when it is completely, re do it if you like. If its just the corners, I wouldnt be real concerned about it anyways.

I have painted lots of active hive bodies. In the summer time latex paint dries fast.

I have rolled a lot of hives in the warmer winter days. I don't see how it would hurt in the summer as long as they were not bearding on the wet paint. Go for it.

I slap a coat on hives all the time. I wouldn't try it at night. Any disturbance and they will crawl (not fly) out and cover the new paint job.

Timely question. I was wondering the same thing. I unexpectedly had to slap an new, unpainted hive body into service for a swarm last week and I was wondering if I could roll some paint on it. I'll wait for a good 90 degree day and roll some on fast.
