Hello,

I have a few boxes and frames with wax foundation in my house, which have never been used. Can I just place these things in my garage? Will if I get wax moth if they are not stored in airy sunlight? What is the best way to store hive components and wax foundation? I live in Florida and the temps are pretty hot now.

Thank you

Jimmy

you usually don't have a problem with wax moth and foundation.  they like the drawn and used comb.  what you may find is that your founation warps.  you'll want to store it carefully and hopefully not in a hot spot.  check it before you use it.  warped foundation makes for messy comb.

Welcome JimmyP to the forum.   :cheer:

I use foundations also and have not had a problem when the frames are clean and dry before storage. A fellow beek stores his in a 3 sided shed with no problems except when the frames were up up damp. Another stores hers outside under an open sided cover. Hope this helps.  -Mike

Thank you Mike and Kathy! I glad to hear the bugs not being a problem. My garage is about 90+ degrees in the summer time. Do you know how long is to long before the foundation might start to warp? ( I would hang these upright )

Thanks again

It should not warp if it is hanging in the frames right.  It is hanging straight down.   If one corner pulls out, then it will warp, no matter what the temp is.
