This has been a great year for me and the best ever since I started beekeeping in 2006. Check out the cool photos of yesterdays extraction. This is from one hive and I still have more to go.

Baby Bears all in a row to give to the women at work. (That's my meadow in the background)

Here are all the jars on my kitchen counter. Happy!! Happy!!

I have a confession to make though. I probably would not have taken all this honey from the hive, but they made totally crazy comb in the honey super and I could not take just one frame out at a time, I had to take it all. Oh Well, I may have to feed this hive next month.

That looks wonderful, sugar syrup in exchange for honey is a trade I'll make the bees all day long. Brad

Looks great Annette!

I have a confession though.  Seeing those little bears all lined up outside on that board got me thinking of a shooting gallery

This is the 2011 honey crop(15gal)  from 3 hives, quite happy with it only being my second year.

Blackberry and star thistle are the main sources around here. In early February we get the manzanita and eucalyptus.

In general, I do not like to feed sugar syrup and usually do not take much honey from my hives. Since we get so little honey around here, I usually end up with nothing. This is a good year with all the rains.

Congrats Annette !

I have had my best year as well.  I think you're right about the rain.

My harvest looks similar in color to yours, but we dont't have any berries and I think my area is normally nectar poor.  Either that or I am just coincidentally doing something right this year.

harvested Saturday and got 8 gallons from 2 hives!!!  Two of my hives didn't have any capped honey, they have been weak all summer.  I got most of it from my winter survivor hive and alread pulled a little over three gallons from it in july.
