Sorry, I guess I just wasn't paying enough attention.  No I haven't tried it but I already have a copy of Alibre and have used it for laying out cut lines for plywood.

You're doing the layout manually, right?   Alibre doesn't do any layout optimization?

No, with Alibre you have to do your own optimizing.  I just make all the shapes I have to cut out and lay them within a 4'x8' rectangle and arranging them so I end up with the most unused space.  Not ideal but since I already use/have Alibre for other projects around the house and I paid $99 at the time thats what I use.  I can't justify buying a program that will only optimize a sheet of plywood.  I think that the cheap deal on Alibre has already passed and it's now pretty expensive.   I noticed a link for laying out plywood using google sketchup.....
