I've been lurking on Beemaster as a guest for a while, kind of a try before you buy attitude.  I like the friendly atmosphere and appreciate the rules of the forum.  I have been keeping bees for 20 years.  I was on the bee-line back in the 1990s.  Have been on another forum for the last several years but found the combative nature and argumentative tone of many posters less than fulfilling.  I try to keep about 10 hives.  That number is about to jump up with a few cutouts and I have 20 swarm traps out there.  By winter I intend to have it back down to 10, maybe a dozen.  A fella has to know his limits.  In addition to an off farm full time job, I raise cattle and chickens.  We haven't bought beef in over 8 years.  Haven't bought chicken in 4.  We have a laying flock of 60 chickens.  Currently running about 20 cattle.  Paring that down to 10 over the weekend.  Cattle prices are very good right now.  Time to cash out.

Well Welcome,

You can help some of us newbee's learn from posting.  I used to have cows, when they were cheap. sold out about dozen years ago.  Very rural, I used to be, my nearest neighbor was 1/2mile to west 1 mile to the east, now 7 within 1/2 mile.
Anyway good to have you here.

Joe

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag...We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

Theodore Roosevelt 1907
