Today, March 5th, is the first day I'm seeing the girls bringing pollen into the hives.  Nice bright yellow stuff.  Although the weatherman says we're dropping back down to 11F on Wednesday night...you can tell Spring is coming...finally.

Similar here Bix, the bees are bringing in lots of pollen, bright yellow stuff.

I haven't figured out the source yet.  There are a few daffodils but not many.  A walk in the swamp confirmed the skunk cabbage hasn't bloomed yet, and the maples are still holding back, but the buds are swelling.

I saw my first jar of pollen at a recent bee guild lecture.  It was absolutely beautiful.
It included an amazing selection of pollen in a rainbow of colors.

Bees were boiling out of my hives today.  It got up near 60F here.  I didn't see any pollen going in.  The snow crocus aren't even blooming yet so I think the bees are out of luck for a few more weeks.

Nice to see it finally! My girls were bringing in tan-colored pollen yesterday.  Not sure what it might be but I'm just glad they were bringing it home.  I've had several bees drown in my maple syrup buckets the past couple of weeks, more over the last few days than before.  I pulled my taps yesterday anyway, after 5 batches of syrup, I'm kinda tired. :-P

We are not seeing anything yet. The maples have swollen buds but I think we are still a week or two away.
My gals like the bright green moss on the damp ground. Don't know if they are getting water or there is some food value from it. Suppose to be 65f today here!

Bees flying, but no pollen being brought in yet.

The Bix

So much for flying bees bringing in the pollen, 27 degrees now, freezing drizzle and going down to 11 degrees tonight.  At least we're getting some precipitation.

Scadsobees

Woo hoo!  Just saw my first pollen baskets for the year yesterday!

I saw the maples were starting to bloom this morning too, so they should be busy today. 8-)
